Hot news : We note the Confirmation of the Appointment of Assistant Chief Constable Dave Jones of the Rural Region of Northern Ireland as Chief Constable NYPolice on 18th April 2013 following the retirement in May 2012 of Grahame Maxwell, when ACC Tim Madgwick was appointed Temporary Chief Constable until the appointment of the new Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire.

Rocky, an English Shepherd dog given to North Yorkshire police, is at present training (with a puppy-walker) and photographs of him can be seen on his Facebook Album!
Police and Crime Commissioner: The elected Commissioner for North Yorkshire, Julia Mulligan, has been holding surgeries in the district, some by internet. She was recently interviewed on Radio 4 and stressed her political impartiality. The Chief Constable and the Police Authority will lose some powers, though there will be a new monitoring tier to replace some of the latter's function. Julia Mulligan will address the AGM of HSNHWA on 22nd May, 2013, at the Galtres Centre at 7.30pm; "A Day in the Life of a Police and Crime Commissioner. (N.B. Clash with Husthwaite NHWA).

Do you know where your passport is? Take 2 copies of your passport, one to travel with you separately from the real one and one to leave at home in a safe place. Keep your passport on you. Be wary of surrendering it even to police; a driving licence or a copy of it or your passport will do equally well. Never tell anyone your PIN--banks will either not ask or in emergency write to you suggesting a meeting at the bank.
