The Husthwaite Art and Craft Group

news

The group has had many weeks of funding by Rural Arts (Thirsk), through their community fund and the Lottery, during which we worked in the village hall and at the Thirsk headquarters, doing pottery, intaglio and collagraph printmaking, Christmas wreath making, paper cutting and other crafts.

Now funding for tutors and materials has been secured until April 2020, again via R.A., so 14 free sessions are planned in the village hall, which began again in May with pottery. Generally there will be one a month, plus extra sessions to fit in when we can.

We have a lively mixed group of mainly over 50s, but members can bring friends and relatives of any age. Until Christmas, a plan has been suggested of mainly crafts, but a concentrated and optional session of drawing techniques (for beginners onwards) is likely to be planned also, as this was among requests from the group.

Please come along to our next session, which is on 13th June running from 10-12. Tea/ coffee are provided at a cost of £1 if you wish to have some, otherwise the session is free including materials. The June session will be taken by Angela Hall, and we will have a go at cyanotype printing!
